Meet the PTA

Welcome from Jenni Bennett - PTA Co-President

It is so hard to believe that we are back in school already. I hope everyone has had a smooth transition into classrooms and are making fast friends with classmates. I know that we are so happy to see all of our WCE family again!

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Jenni Bennett and I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am thrilled to be working with Mary Catherine Ritterbusch to represent you, the families of WCE, in a new role of Co-President this year. My husband Lee and I have had many wonderful years invested at WCE and lots of fond memories made along the way. Our son, Jeremy, is finishing his last year at WCE while our older son, Caleb (who also attended WCE for a time), is starting his sophomore year at PHS.

You or your kids have likely seen me around in a variety of PTA roles these past few years (such as VP Legislation, Communications Chair, Bday Books & Paperback Book Exchange Chair, etc) and this year is no different. Having been involved with the PTA has been a true joy and I want that same experience for all! I hope you will reach out to learn more and find a way to get involved yourselves. Also, your feedback is also extremely important, so please take a few moments to complete the Parent Survey to the left under "Parent Resources." You can experience the joy of PTA too! Make it YOUR PTA!!

PTA 2017-18 Needs

Committee Chair Needs

As we look forward to next year, we are needing to fill the following PTA Chairperson roles. The only way they will be offered is if we have someone (or two someones sharing the load) to run them.
Rec Nites Co-Chair: run indoor activities for kids/adults (great opportunity for dads!)
Bilingual Liaison: assist with translating and finding ways to encourage bilingual families to participate in PTA and our events
Everybody Counts: coordinate with teachers/volunteers to provide this program that opens eyes to different abilities and encourages empathy for those with them

If you are interested in one of these, please be sure to notify us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Box Tops

Keep Clipping those Box Tops!

Make sure you are clipping Box Tops for submission in the fall next school year. Try to cut along the dotted lines of the labels and feel free to print the sheets to the left to keep track of how many you have. Either way, please send them in!!! Lots of information and FREE coupons for you can be found at www.BTFE.com.

If you have some cut in your house now, you may send them in at any time. We will also have another contest, so get a head start for your child's class. For a list of participating products go to: http://www.boxtops4education.com/earn/participating-products.

SPARK - Special Education Parents Accessing Resources and Knowledge

Welcome Parents to SPARK!

SPARK meetings are designed to give parents information to help them in their current and future steps of the journey of parenting children with unique needs. As parents, we guide and make decisions for our children and their development. The task can be overwhelming and we want nothing more than to be as informed as we can be when we set the course we believe our child should take. The SPARK committee and District 15 are grateful to have you and desire to serve you such that your journey is successful!

At SPARK we realize the importance of providing:

  • Relevant programs and resources related to special education
  • Opportunities to network, receive support and help
  • Connections for parents with outside sources

The above are primarily accomplished at the district level through evening programs with outside speakers. We have SPARK representatives at each school who are a local contact and resource to the individual schools. We also have an online support group. If you would like to subscribe to this group:

Walter R. Sundling Junior High School
1100 N. Smith Street
Palatine, IL 60067
7:00–8:30 p.m.

The programs can also be found on the District 15 website: http://www.ccsd15.net.

If you would like to be contacted by or connected with SPARK, contact Jenni Bennett 224-725-3795.

SPARK is a Northwest Suburban Council of PTA/PTSA committee serving families of children with special needs in Community Consolidated School District 15 and beyond.

SPARK is proud to be in partnership with PTA!
